A Harmon Rocket, what a nice way to spend $150,000!
Tony Lewis's excellent AeroVee powered Sonex
Dave and his beautiful RV-4
On Saturday, August 12, Palatka held a fly-in. I was at Dan's picking up a 4' x 8' sheet of Lexan to make a new wind screen for my Cleanex, and he mentioned going to the fly-in, which was fine with me.
Dave Dollarhide, his neighbor down the runway, wanted to go also. He offered to let me ride in the back of his RV-4 so that we could take some air-air photos of Dan's Cleanex.
The flight down was great, and we got some super photos. There were about 100 people at the fly-in, parachutists, RC planes, and a lot of homebuilts. There were about a dozen RV's, but only one Cleanex. In a couple of months mine will be done, and then there will be two at all the local fly-ins!! Tony Lewis flew over from Winter Haven in his Sonex, and it was good to see him again.
We had a wonderful time, saw a lot of people and planes, and had a great lunch of burgers, dogs, and chips. The flight home was tons of fun, as Dave, a retired Naval Aviator and airline pilot, decided to dog fight with some imaginary bogies in the clouds (go get 'em Mav!). It was fantastic fun! I can't wait to get my Cleanex in the air so that Dan has a wingman when the local RVers ambush him!
Enjoy the photos (click on a photo for a larger image)!
